Are you supposed to use a spacer between each individual tile when tiling mosaic tile?

It's wall tile. And they're stone tiles(each one is 1inch X 2inch) on a 12 inch X 12 inch mat.
Or can each mat be grouted before applying to wall?
Any hints?

You will likely need spacers doing a wall. You dont need spacers between the individual stones attached to a backing.
Buy the small plastic X shaped tile spacers of the correct spacing. You can stick just a point of them into the space, making them easier to pull out when the mortar sets.
No, you dont grout it before putting it up. Use a spacer that gives you the same spacing as the tiles on their backing have.
Once the mortar or mastic you are using to set the tile has set, remove your spacers.
You probably need more advice on tiling than just this. Go to your tile supplier, that is, if they really know tiling.

You can not grout the moasic tiles before you put them on the wall…….If you are not experienced at setting tile, DO use a spacer at each corner of the 12 inch mat. If it seems to droop in the middle, just poke a spacer in between the mats sideways till the adhesive sets……..then you can remove them all before grouting.

I assume when you asked if the mat could be grouted you really meant can the adhesive be applied to it.
If that is so the answer is no, the adhesive should be applied to the wall a square yard at a time.
Start from the bottom and work your way upwards placing + shaped spacers where necessary to support the next mat beside and above the one you have applied.
Clean any adhesive from the front of any tiles before it dries.
Finally grout after the adhesive has completely dried (Usually 24 hrs).
