Backsplash advice needed for a kitchen with builder’s white tile countertops?

Date June 3, 2009

Hi all!

I live in a tract house in California and we are trying to update our kitchen a bit. Our kitchen is small and there is just a small area on one wall above the stove and under two cabinets that I was thinking of putting a backsplash on. BUT: we have the standard white tile countertops that are often put into tract homes. Would it look wrong to then put a tiled backsplash in that area…of a different tile? What other options do I have?

Or because we already have the tile on the counters, should we just keep the wall painted list the rest of the room?
Well, Id use the same tile if I liked it but I hate it! Its really not my taste and has light grout that sucks up all the dirt. I definitely dont want to put that on the wall.

But would a complimentary tile right next to it work or be a big faux pas?
Penny: Its the powdered stuff. I just mix it in with my hand until its dissolved.

Nothing wrong with going with the same tile.Or the same tile and a liner bar of a color in there. Same tile and decos of your choice scattered about.. Check out Tiles by Fran .com for a 1000 deco choices..
Go with a all glass tile backspash. You can get them in a solid color or in an iridescent, shimmering colors. Or add the glass tile within the same white tile as a liner..Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
