Can I lay a mosaic tile floor over an already existing tile floor?

Date April 13, 2009

I want to lay a mosaic tile floor in my kitchen (which has asbestos tiles) and continue into my dining room (which has an already existing tile floor). There is about an 1/8" difference between the two floors (one leading into the other). What is the best prep before I begin?

Lay down the adhesive, and start laying the tile down in the kitchen, then after you finish the kitchen, do the dining room. Then when you come to joining the floors use a transitional saddle. That will solve the 1/8" difference. Good luck on your project
