How can I smooth out my mosaic table?

My husband and I decorated an old table with broken glass bottle pieces to give it a cool mosaic flair. Is there anything we can pour over it to give it a nice, smooth finish to make up for some of the glass pieces that are a little higher than others? I've considered putting a piece of clear acrylic over it, but thought I'd see what else is out there. Any ideas?

There is an epoxy coating especially for that application.

maybe you could use clear varnish
