how do i remove dried grout from mosaic tiles?

I made my first mosaic-on an uneven adobe surface in my home. I got grout everywhere, cleaned off most but there is a few sections still under a layer of stubborn grout. How can I get it off-are there any good home remedies?

You don t use a steel wool on it , you can scratch the finish on the tile easily..
First scrape off any built up or lumps off the tile with a plastic scraper or small pc of wood… Next dry "dust " off the tile with a old terri cloth towel or use a white nylon pad, the kind you do dishes with..
If this fails to get off excess , then go to your wet method with a strong vinegar and water solution..
If this doesn t work , then I d go to a grout and iridescent remover you can purchase any where tile is sold… The use of muratic acid by a home owner or in the house I d never recommend.. You can ruin tile or surrounding stuff if you get it all over stuff..

That's whats so great about grout! You could try soaking in warm water, and using steel wool to get the grout down. Be sure to rinse well or get rust stain from steel wool. There's a Commercial "grout" remover – but I've only used it for bath & tile plastic grout, it really makes that stuff soft. But for your grout, its scraping time.

try vinegar and water first. If not that then rubber gloves and Muratec acid. Use a sponge with a green pad.

Use a small razor blade. They make ones that look like a small scrapper with a handle on one side and a razor blade on the other. Use at an angle and the grout should come off the tile really easily. Dampen surface first.
