the edge of floor mosaic is not sharp unless you cut it specially !

second , as you know there are not such big distances among floor mosaic after they are fixed on the floor properly, your toes will not get into the spaces among floor mosaics when you walk on.

do not worry, fix them water levelly, then you do not have any problem from it.

Are you doing a centerpiece with out edging? even so I wouldn't worry about cutting toes , the ceramic is not that sharp unless you cut it and leave the cut part exposed toward the outside edge leaving yourself vulnerable and as far as the face of your project is concerned don't forget that you will fill the center face area with grout thus; filling in cracks and crevices and eliminating any exposed ceramic edges.
