I want to create a mosaic tile floor in my upstairs unit?

Date July 7, 2009

My mom says that tile is too heavy, what does that mean? Will I fall through the floor? I live in an upstairs condo and want to lay an artistic free style mosaic floor. How can I do this without visiting my downstairs neighbor!? Please help, any tips would be great.

Even if you have to add a cement board substrate to the floor to properly do the tile, you ll be fine. Some upstair units like yours will have a cementrous flooring in them for sound proofing and you can most often go right over them with the tile. And thus have the little bit of extra weight spread out which is a lot less than even having a few friends over and them standing in 1 area.
Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL

i believe you will have no problem using tiles on yur floor since the weight is distributed out over an area evenly and not just piled up standing in one spot. you’ll be just fine
