I want to do a mosaic wall hanging using star fish and sea glass…any tips?

I've never done mosaic work, so I'm a newbie…what and or how do I go about it?

Lots of glue, lots of patience. Have a larger picture of what you want done, either an actual picture or a rough sketch that you have drawn, otherwise it might turn out kinda off. Starfish will break if handled roughly, stick with glass beads or other more sturdy things at first. Start small and when you get better, go larger.

Buy a mosaic program (or download a trial version)

They will help you set out your pattern, then its simply "glue by numbers" as it were.

You can also use the software to do picture mosaics (a great gift)
