I would like to make a mosaic out of a puzzle. Can someone help w/ the preserving supplies I need?

Date May 12, 2010

My grandmother recently passed away, and I would like to make a mosaic out of one of her old puzzles. I know the steps regarding tile mosaics, but would like to place a type of lacquer over the puzzle pieces before spreading the grout to help protect and preserve them. Any help with this would be great.

I’d use epoxy resin to make your mosaic, once made I’d nail a metal boarder that is 3 mm above the mosaic (By making the mosaic on a piece of ply 10 mm then nail a strip of stainless steel or aluminium of 14 or 15 mm so that when you glue down your puzzle you’ll have enough metal above the puzzle so as to act as a boarder to pour the epoxy into) then you need to cover the puzzle with mod podge both sides then glue and pour in the epoxy mixture like this guy makes Resin Jewelry. http://www.instructables.com/id/Resin-Jewelry-Tutorial-with-John-W.-Golden-part-1/
