Is one type of mop (sponge, rag, microfiber, etc) better for cleaning slate and tile floors? What about wood?

I have a LIBMAN WONDER MOP… Which I LOVE… It's been manufactured for a very long time so it's easy to find replacement heads and it's NOT super expensive… It has absorband mops "strips" that get into hard to reach places.. Plus the mop isn't heavy even when wet… ! It's easy to change/replace heads and they can be washed in the washer and hung to dry ! The handle/mop head (starter) are around $15 and additional heads are around $7… You can find them most places I've seen them at TARGET, WALMART and KMART.

I used to work at a place with multiple group homes where each shift mopped so we had to have a really good mop… AFTER trying about 10-15 different mops(Valedia-red, Mr. Clean, etc) the company finally started purchasing the LIBMAN.. Since every other mop was broken in a couple weeks… !

it depends on the tile, if the tiles have grooves in them, then you still want to hand scrub the floors maybe once a month, so that the dirt doesnt sit in the grooves.. for wood floors, i use a shmop.. its a flat mop that you put a cloth over and use murphys oil soap or bona….

wod flooring is better cleaned with a sponge based mop. especially if its the new kind of one where it can be squeezed. it will stop fluff from wet cotton mops dragging around your floor, and old style mops tend to leave swirl marks. The new sponge type works great and pracitcally drys your floor if you run over it after squeezing the sponge dry. Mind you you have to use a good shampoo too. no point having a great mop and cheap floor shampoo. Flash all purpose cleans wooden floors and leaves them lemon fresh and glossy, without the sticky slippy feeling. Plus you can use it everywhere else too.
