Kitchen Backsplash?

Date August 19, 2010

Having HomeDepot install the countertops. Do I install the tile backsplash before they do that or after.

Also can i Install the tiles on the backsplash on the wile straight or do i need to put some sort or hardibacker over it first. If i do this wont the backsplash stick out too much?

Thanks for any help

You dont need to put hardibacker up, you can tile right over the drywall, good luck.

From personal experience, you install the backsplash after the countertop has been installed. You can apply the backsplash tiles directly to the wall using the recommended adhesive.

I’m in the process of re-modeling my kitchen also . The counter – tops were installed 1rst and I’m contemplating whether or not to install wallpaper , stucco, or tile the back wall (I’ll probably tile it ) . However , to answer whether or not to use a hard backer over the back wall ,you don’t really need to ( unless , of course , you want to waste your $$$$$ ). Good luck !!!!!
