Kitchen Wall Tile Starting Point?

Date August 16, 2010

My parents got kitchen tile installed and they started from under the wall cabinet then worked down to the backsplash. So the top is all 4×4 and the bottom row is cut tiles. Should you start from the bottom or top?

I believe you start in the middle or the bottom of the area your tiling. When we tiled our shower we started on the bottom row and where two walls met so that the top row and side rows of the shower had about the same size tiles all around.

middle is always best because otherwise there will ba that one point that messes up and (of course) that is where everyone’s eye will be drawn to….

start bottom -up, as the top is normally finished off w/ a trim piece
