    If it is going to be a square mosaic with 64 squares, I think it should be an 8 by 8 sqare since 8 x 8 = 64. If each tile is one-inch, then the side would be 8 inches long on each side.

    If each side of the mosaic is 4 inches, then how many tiles are on each side? And if there are that many tiles on each side, then how many are in the whole square mosaic?

    Then the same question for a 6-inch mosaic, and for a 16-inch mosaic. Just for fun, you might try it for a 8-inch mosaic.
