On a Kitchen Remodel do you install a new wall hood over the backsplash or tile first?

Date June 24, 2009

I have a new Jenn-Air hood that attaches to the wall and new tile is going on the same wall. Does the tile need to go down first or the Hood first. I just have paint on the wall now.

Tile first. The hood will then Butt up against the tile. It's has cleaner lines. That's what we did with ours. The contractor who built our house had it the other way around (hood first) and it was a mess. You always do things better when they need to be redone because you take the time to do it right. Have fun and Good Luck.

i would tile first that way if you ever change the hood you won't have to worry about matching the tile
