Pebble stone over existing tile in shower?

Date June 24, 2009

I have a very 80′s shower. I hate the pink/rose color. I have tiled the bathroom floor with a nice porcelain tile. I was watching HGTV and they used these pebble tiles and tiled right over an old marble countertop. I was wondering if I can tile over my standing shower using these pebble tiles. They are flat and easy to work with and look very mosaic and chic.

A horizontal surface is different from a vertical one in a wet location. I would not do it. Remove the old tile and install the pebble sheets.

no, it’s not going to grip well. You’re better off to take out the tile and start from scratch. It’ll save you a hassle in the long run when your pebbles start to fall off into the shower.
