Suggestions for making a tile mosaic?

Date May 16, 2010

I’ve checked out some books about how to do it. It looks like something I might want to try. However I’m not sure where to find tile or ceramic to use. I went to the local hardware store but they only had cream, tan, light blue, etc. (boring colors!). The craft store had little bags of some colors but they were like for a tiny little bag. Plates and things from thrift stores might be ok but what if I want a plain color in it too, not all patterns… Any suggestions? Thank you.
Yes that’s my question…where to find those larger brightly colored tiles that I can break up.

You could buy some larger tiles throw them on the floor and break them to make abstract shapes and relieve stress!! Its a two in one combo, what better than that?? good luck!!! :) have fun!! :D or if you live by a Michael’s craft store they sell mosaic kits in 3D (animals) like turtles, fish, dogs, cats, etc. Its really fun to do! they are fries on foam basically and you pull them off wax paper things and stick them to the dome… (instructions included ;) ) they are only $1!!!!! :) Good luck, have fun, and be careful! send me some finished pictures too if u can!!
