what color to paint a kitchen with forest green backsplash tiles?

Date June 16, 2010

We are buying a home! I really don’t know what to do with kitchen though! Kitchen has white and forest green tiles under the cabinets in between the countertops. The cabinets are a dark brown wood and the floor is a light tan tile. Countertops are a lighter/sage green laminate. White appliances The room is painted white. Please help me pick what color paint would go in there?!

Yellow is definately your color to go with green. there are different shades of yellow go to the paint store and find a really light yellow color. or a beige or almond color neutral colors are going to work here as well eggshell. – good luck

A very light green may be nice, or there is a product that you can get to paint the tile if you want a change. Check with your local home improvement store.

I think a light tan similar to the flooring should be used for the walls.
You probably do not want to introduce a large amount of another color since you already have a few colors going on…Dk green, lt green, tan, white, dk brown cabinets.

This way you are creating a neutral background and can then use a few pieces of decoration in an accent color of your choice.
Most shades of red will work, some shades of yellow, even some shades of lavender/violet might work with the colors you have.
Use the accent color/s on rugs, blinds, pottery, vase of flowers, pictures, etc. A picture or two that has all the colors in the room in it work well in tying it all together.

I usually use Olympic 0 VOC interior latex satin or eggshell paint. Satin would work best in a kitchen. Good cleanability. About $21. a gallon
