What type adhesive and size/type of trowel to use for kitchen backsplash?

Date August 4, 2010

Hello,

I would like to install a tile backsplash in my kitchen. I will be using 6" unglazed porcelain tiles.

I am a bit unsure what type of material and trowel to use. Should I use acrylic mastic, thinset mortar, something else I’m not aware of? A 1/4" x 1/4" notched trowel or a V shame, not sure what size. Any information would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Acrylic, 1/4 by1/4 you should put the mastic on with the flat side first then drag your notched side over the mastic once it is on the wall.
